Structural Inspections

Contact UsSee Our Services

Usually, if there is an indication that something within the structural components of a home or commercial building may not be safe or sound, then a thorough Structural Inspection by a licensed engineer is commonly required.

At United Professional Engineering (UPE) we provide accurate, conclusive and unbiased Structural Inspection reports to ensure safety and conformance.

Our structural inspections are based on sound engineering principals and proven methods of documenting and collecting data on-site.

Utilizing the latest in visual inspection, non-invasive / non-destructive examination (NDE) and engineering analysis, our licensed engineers analyze site-specific data to identify structural defects & damages; non-compliant and non-conforming issues; costly remediation and potential catastrophic failures.

Threshold Inspections

At UPE, we are licensed as a Special (Threshold) Inspector with the Florida Board of Professional Engineers and have a tremendous wealth of experience performing these services.

One major service we perform is to verify that the concrete mix designs are in compliance with the contract specifications in advance of concrete placement.

The threshold inspector, who will be on site during all concrete and grout placement activities, will verify that the proper concrete, type and strength is delivered and placed at the proper location. He will record any water added to the concrete and note if it exceeds that allowed in the mix design.

Any deviations from the approved concrete mix design will be immediately reported to the general contractor’s superintendent and the owner’s authorized representative.

Commercial Structural Inspections

At UPE, we also provide Commercial Building Structural Inspection services on non-threshold buildings. Our licensed, structural engineers make a site visit to the property.

We survey the areas of concern and assess the severity of the structural problems in question. These inspections include: foundation, masonry and concrete walls, wood framing, metal framing, truss inspections, roofing inspections, etc.

After a site investigation is conducted, our structural engineers prepare a structural engineering report outlining onsite findings, identifying probable cause of the structural issue and recommendations for remediation of any structural deficiency uncovered.

We provide our clients with a photograph log documenting existing conditions at the time of the site visit.

Residential Structural Inspections

Many engineering firms do not offer residential services. At UPE, we understand the residential market and the homeowner. We value their business and our team is proud to service this sector.

Most of the work that we perform for residential homeowners begins with an onsite engineering assessment. Our licensed, structural engineers make a site visit to the property. We survey the areas of concern and assess the severity of the structural problems in question.

Mr. Giglio with UPE was very professional and explained everything expected of me before coming out to my house.

He arrived right on time and was very thorough with his inspection. He was also very willing to discuss the issue with the necessary people to solve the problem that I was having.

I had a client that had some settling on a retaining wall. They called me from the site to make sure that we were on the same page. I had a report shortly after in the mail.

They followed up with a call and some more advice on how to proceed with the repair. Very pleasant process

Frequently Asked Questions

What does a Structural Engineer do?

A Structural Engineer can perform a range of services to assist you in the assessment of your home, office or building or to assist with the design of your those.

Whereas an Architect may design the appearance and layout of a property, a Structural Engineer can perform design checks using various structural products and materials to ensure the proposed works are structurally safe and buildable.

What is a structural engineering inspection?

A thorough analysis of a structure’s foundation, basement and crawl space, framing, roof, interior and exterior to determine how well it can support or resist weight.

The engineer will provide a detailed report on conditions that need attention and estimated costs of recommended repairs.

Do all your designs comply with health and safety rules?

Yes. All of our engineers are experienced in the design of structural works and we take our health and safety responsibilities very seriously.

We advise all of our clients on health and safety matters at the time of providing a proposal.

Why should I have an engineer on board through construction?

Your engineer will represent your interests during project construction. On controlled construction projects, inspections by the engineer of record arc mandatory.

The engineer will make periodic inspections to assure that the work is being performed in substantial compliance with the drawings and specifications, and will notify you and other appropriate parties if it isn't.

Furthermore, you are paying for the project as designed and specified, and retaining an engineer throughout project construction is in your best interest to assure that you will get what you are paying for.
